Sharp’s high-level technology for solar power generation is at work in facilities, like lighthouses on uninhabited islands, requiring long-term, stable, maintenance-free operation under adverse conditions. Since our first system was installed at the Ogamishima lighthouse in Nagasaki Prefecture in 1966, Sharp has contributed to the safe navigation of sea routes by providing a stable supply of power to 1,810 lighthouses throughout Japan (as of April, 2006).
