Production of photovoltaic modules was begun at Sharp Manufacturing Company of America (SMCA, Sharp’s manufacturing base in Memphis, Tennessee) in the spring of 2003, under the name of. In May 2002, a solar products sales section was set up within the American sales and marketing company Sharp Electronics Corporation (SEC), marking the first overseas manufacturing base for photovoltaic modules.
